Toxic Chemicals for Fort Worth this Christmas

This cartoon isn't as silly as it might first appear, especially when you consider that the city of Fort Worth has a pilot program that will essentially evaporate toxic waste salt water into the air we breathe in east Fort Worth.  As you contemplate this, consider that many of the toxic chemicals that are present in flow back water from hydraulic fracturing of a gas well evaporate at a much lower temperature than the salt water that contains the chemicals.

The argument can certainly be made that IF we are going to subject our lungs to this toxic chemical soup we might as well just drink it!  During this horrible drought...if Fort Worth and the Tarrant Regional Water District continue to allow gas drillers to use 3 to 5 MILLION GALLONS of our clean water to fracture each and every gas well....we may very well have to drink flow back water.

What's next?  The foolish city council is on the brink of allowing toxic chemical injection wells all over the city.  That's right, the very same wells that have caused earthquakes in shale drilling states all over this country.  How did we get here?  That will be the subject of the next post, and it is a story of fraud, greed and cronyism....OH, and let's not forget a healthy helping of ignorance on behalf of the Fort Worth City Council.

  1. Look, it's willful ignorance by the City Council. They have had dozens of thoughtful, well educated (formally and self-taught) citizens bring valid concerns on the many issues surrounding this industrial activity in the neighborhoods. Purposefully blind, deaf and stupid, they have led our once fair city to the brink of becoming a toxic pariah.

  2. Sadly, Fort Worth got all of this started and with the news about allowing injection wells all over the City...it doesn't look as if they will be the City to end it anytime soon. We pray for all our friends in Fort Worth. Amen.

  3. I called the EPA to tell them about how reclaimed water is being considered to frack with and they were supposed to call me back...someone else please call Dale Selgrath at Dallas EPA water divison at 214 665 8083 to see what kind of toxic concoction on crank mixtures we'll have after that. Also they shouldn't be puncturing the water table drilling with reclaimed water..only fresh water.

  4. Someone needs to help me put pressure on the EPA Dallas water divison guy named Dale Selgrath at 214 665 8083 to ensure they know about reclaimed water being used for fracking and if that makes for an even more toxic brew. Plus they should only "drill" using fresh water when punching through the acquifer.

  5. Greg said it's willful ignorance. Absolutely! And why would they do that? I'm looking into that as deeply as I can. A federal case...that's what we need. We've got to get it out of local or state jurdisdiction or it'll be a waste of time.

  6. Let's take a moment this Holiday Season to thank or very own Carter Burdette – retired gas and oil attorney and previous city council member - whose favorite phrase was the "Supremacy of Mineral Rights". Once the council decided to accept that phrase as their
“Star of Bethlehem” – the three gifts of toxic waste toxic air and inevitable illness were logical conclusions. All together now… “ Oh silent rights….”
